VILLAGE OF HIGHLAND PARK INFORMATION
The Highland Village Park is a gently rolling 15-acre park, centrally located in the Village and easily accessible from State Road 80. The Highland Village Park offers picnicking opportunities, playground equipment, support facilities for community and family gatherings (4 shelter facilities, flush toilets, drinking water and a concession stand), basketball courts, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, and softball fields. There are three parking areas with access roads. The park provides some facilities that are handicapped accessible. For instance, parking on the east of the park has handicap parking spaces that allow for convenient park access. Covered bleachers at the ball-field provide a concrete pad for wheel-chair observation of spectator sports. Several picnic tables are handicap accessible. Recently restroom facilities were constructed to be handicap accessible. Recreational softball and volleyball league games are held at the park with teams from surrounding communities. During the summer the park is host to various three-day softball and volleyball tournaments. There is a Summer Youth Program for boys and girls T-ball, girls softball and boys baseball. The Highland Village Park receives extensive use for three annual fundraisers. The VFW host ball tournaments and a chicken bar-b-que mid June. The American Legion sponsors ball tournaments, chicken bar-b-que and a dance for Fourth of July weekend. The Highland Volunteer Fire Department boasts of their chicken bar-b-que and ball tournaments on Labor Day weekend.
